University of South Florida Hosts Summit: The Future of AI Innovation in Tampa Bay

The University of South Florida’s Global and National Security Institute (GNSI) recently held its regular summit to bring together leaders across industries.

The Global National Security Institute (GNSI) at the University of South Florida (USF), in partnership with the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) and the USF College of Arts and Sciences, along with the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO), as well as the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI+X) at USF, sponsored the ninth bi-annual conference on The Great Power Competition (GPC), which took place March 5-7, 2024, at the Marshall Center on the University of South Florida campus in Tampa, Florida.

While many topics were discussed, the focus of the summit was on an impactful ongoing innovation in tech, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI). The group discussed in particular how Tampa Bay can build its AI pipeline and establish itself as a leader in the field, and provided the following insights:


  • If Tampa Bay can keep up with other tech hubs
  • The role of government contracting and areas that should receive investment
