Metro Lagoons
Synapse Challenge

About The Challenge:

Metro Lagoons by Crystal Lagoons® is a new and impressive leisure destination designed and constructed by Tampa developer, Metro Development Group. Already hugely popular around the world, this transformative amenity has finally made its way to the United States, making its debut in Pasco County, Florida at the community of Epperson.

Metro has plans for nine of these lagoon communities and to start, it is imperative that there is a system in place for entry, membership-identification and payment via wearable technology. Epperson will be the first to implement this yet-to-be-designed system and the management team wants to be sure to take advantage of the latest innovations.

Challenge Description:

Metro Development Group is hosting a challenge for a team or individual to create a hi-tech methodology and software that can create benefits for the Lagoon Management Team through trackable data, payment tool, metrics, flow patterns, and easy updates.  Metro is looking for user-experience to improve since this technology will be appealing and convenient.

While this is primarily a software solution, please consider how the users will interface with this system while at the Crystal Lagoon.  Potential solutions could include recommending a pre-existing hardware, such as a wearable device, a cell phone, health tracker, etc.

Competition agreement and terms:

  1. The solution must be a software system utilizing a cloud back-end.  Challengers should recommend hardware but are not obligated to purchase and present the solution on the device. Metro Development Group can provide POS hardware and connected iPads or tablets if necessary.
  2. If you choose to include a hardware component you must utilize an existing, off the shelf device with a per piece cost under $10 on a wholesale basis.
  3. The system must be able to manage entry into the designated lagoon area; a software solution should give people the ability to buy a Day Pass as well as pay for the other add-ons and options.
  4. The system must be able to manage entry into the Crystal Lagoon.
  5. Tickets must be able to be purchased via mobile app or web portal, that then are transferable to user’s wearable.
  6. Users can purchase a Day Pass or have the option to purchase a discounted Guest Pass, if accompanied by a Resident Member.
  7. The system must be able to track payments, allowing customers to seamlessly pay for food, drinks or ride tickets.
  8. The system must track the number of ride tickets for each particular ride.
  9. The system must be able to denote if a customer has an “all inclusive” pass to enable them to go on any ride at any time.
  10. The system must track data to keep track of the following information for an admin portal:
    1. Number of people in the park.
    2. Rate of entry and exits of the park.
    3. Number of tickets purchased and on what rides.
    4. Number of all inclusive packages purchased.
    5. Revenue from food, drinks and ride tickets.
    6. Type of ticket purchased (child v. adult; day pass v. unlimited, etc.)
  11. A demo mobile application for customers to be able to connect to hardware that will be determined in the future, if not recommended as part of this challenge, (i.e. a wearable device) and see money spent, amount on a pre-paid account, access level and tickets purchased.

It is up to the challenger to determine best method to implement, however all challenges must fit the above requirements.
