**## What is a hackathon?**

Think of a hackathon as a place where people get together to build a mini startup, over the course of 2 days. You have designers, developers, business analyst, and idea bringers who make it come to life.

The theme is telecommunications related – think video conferencing, SMS and phone call tools etc. Past projects include things like building a phone app to send you a daily fun quote of the day by SMS, or a robot controlled with built in video feeds.

Anyone is welcome to attend, of all skills levels in tech. You don’t need to be a seasoned developer, beginners are encouraged to come!

This is a great place to learn from others in different disciplines, and to learn how software products are shipped out in the industry.

**## HACKATHON VENUE AT EMBARC COLLECTIVE**

Here’s the schedule:

Saturday, October 15

* 10 AM – check in
* Noon – 1 PM – catered lunch from a sponsor
* 6 PM – 7 PM – catered dinner from a sponsor
* 8 PM – venue closes, feel free to work afterwards with your team elsewhere

Sunday

* 10 AM – Venue opens
* Noon – 1 PM – catered lunch from a sponsor
* 2PM – 3 PM – Pitches to your project
* 4 PM – Prize awards
* 5 PM – wrapping up and closing

I have attended this hackathon for many years and know the organizer quite well. This is one of the best hackathons to go to in Florida by far, more updates to come closer to the date
