LUNCH & LEARN | “Exploring Careers in Tech”

A lunch and learn focused on a workshop that highlights other tech opportunities outside of coding and computer science.

ABOUT TOPIC ⭐

Hear from technology professionals about the intersectionality of tech in many different industry sectors. Learn about some of the potential career pathways and opportunities to work in tech in South Florida directly from the companies themselves.

Although we love our developers and engineers, tech is more than coding.

We’ll discuss opportunities for roles in Project Management, Cyber Security, Business Analyst and UX/UI subject matter experts in multiple industries.

The lunch and learn is open to all students, alumni and job seekers.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS ⭐

Cristina Escalante is the COO of The SilverLogic, a software development consultancy in Boca Raton, Florida and has worked there in a variety of roles since 2014. She serves on the Palm Beach State College Computer Science Business Partnership Council, the Boca Raton Community Advisory Panel, and as a mentor for Florida Atlantic University’s Senior Design program.

Cristina has a dual BA in Cognitive Science / Applied Math & Statistics from The Johns Hopkins University and a MS in Computer Science from Florida Atlantic University.

Tim Neusesser is a User Experience Specialist with Nielsen Norman Group. With a strong business background, his fields of expertise include strategy, management, and analytics.

Prior to joining NN/g, Tim gained international experience in the fields of sales, education, business consulting, and entrepreneurship. Leveraging the knowledge and skills from these experiences, he worked as a UX Freelancer on projects in the areas of sports, aerospace, and blockchain.

Tim has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Cologne. Additionally, he holds a MBA with a concentration in International Business and Supply Chain Management from Clayton State University, where he earned All-American honors as the captain of the men’s soccer team. Tim lives in Miami, Florida.

Vinita Rajpal is the Senior Director of Project Management at Modernizing Medicine. Vinita is an innovative technology professional with strong portfolio of success directing the development of technology architecture, systems and services to significantly enhance corporate bottom lines. She is affective leader with more than 22 years progressive experience in product lifecycle development.

Vinita holds MBA degree from Florida Atlantic University and Bachelors in Computer Science from Florida International University along with a Bachelors in Business Administration from India. She specializes in Agile product development and holds numerous agile certifications like Scrum, SAFe, CSM, CSPO, Certified Agile Coach.

Brought you by the South Florida Tech Hub’s Talent Committee and Higher Education and Bootcamp Subcommittees, this virtual workshop will cover the different positions aside from coding available across a variety of industries.

Our Talent Committee Build’s South Florida’s Tech Hub through initiatives that expose, nurture and grow our community, by supporting all levels of STEAM education, and connecting businesses to the right talent. Our current goals include:

  • Get K-12 Students excited about STEAM and Technology in particular.
  • Ensure our local tech talent is equipped with the soft and hard skills they need
  • Keep tech graduates & tech people in South Florida.
  • Connect talent to the right opportunity.
  • Attract tech talent to South Florida.
