Good design is good for individuals, society and the planet and its overall contributing to the wellbeing of all living ecosystem. According to the United States Environment Protection Agency (EPA), between 70 to 80 % of a product’s environmental impact is locked-in during the design and development stage as well as design phase determinates 70-90% of manufacturing costs (ref. US National Research Council (NRC). Consequently, User Experience Design and designers work plays an essential role for sustainability transformation within organisations, businesses, and life cycle product creation.

At this session, Laura will talk to Paola, former Head of Design Culture at Lloyds Banking Group on how to use the design process and UX to enhance the positive impact of design solutions for people and the planet. The session will tackle concrete projects that Paola developed as Head of design culture at Lloyds Banking Group, impacting and developing a sustainable culture that has empowered employees and businesses to contribute to sustainability goals.

In previous roles, Paola has developed successful user experience strategies and designs for diverse clients such as Aviva Investors, Santander Group, Dell, BBVA, and Bankia among others.

This session will focus on designers; work as a catalyst of change influencing teams, companies, and users towards sustainable transformation, heading from business and human-led models towards sustainable and positively impactful businesses.
